As a graphic designer at VIZIO, Inc., I worked with the Creative Services team on a wide variety of design tasks. The Creative Services team interfaces with many other teams within the company, including Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, Retail Marketing, Business Development, Sales, Social Media, Sponsorships & Partnerships, Public Relations, Information Technology, and VIZIO Ads.

I had opportunities to interface with individuals from all of these groups, and in many cases, I created graphics that met whatever needs they were facing.

Within the Creative Services team, design responsibilities included creation of vector graphics for use in User Manuals or Reviewer Guides, iteration of designs for in-store Points of Purchase, and development of future product branding.

Social Media

I created social media content that has gone live on VIZIO’s social media sites, ensuring that the VIZIO brand is well-represented to the public eye, informing current and potential future consumers about the latest and greatest the brand has to offer, and incentivizing direct response.

VIZIO.com Quality Assurance

VIZIO recently launched a new website, which was largely developed and coded by an outside vendor. Consequently, it was important for the Creative Services team to do an audit of the website to ensure that quality was being maintained. Along with one other designer, I took on the site audit, noting down any errors on every page of the site.

Errors included spelling and grammatical errors, incorrect formatting, lack of flexibility when a browser window is shrunk down, and content inaccuracies.

By the end of the audit, over 100 issues were catalogued on a master spreadsheet. Each issue was screenshotted, given a description, ranked in order of priority, and assigned to a team to fix.

Working With Partners

I worked with the Product Marketing and VIZIO Ads teams in order to develop concepts for assets that would integrate outside brands into VIZIO content. Examples of such concepts included developing a stylized end card for videos that promoted the Marvel’s Avengers video game and integrating seasonal assets from various potential sponsorship partners into the VIZIO SmartCast TV UI in the hopes of convincing them to partner with VIZIO to advertise their brand.

Point of Purchase Displays

I collaborated with other designers within the Creative Services team and interfaced with individuals from the Merchandising and Marketing teams in order to develop design iterations for Point of Purchase displays. Designs adhered to brand guidelines and explored ways of conveying information within provided dieline templates. These concepts helped inform the final design, which will be built and installed in stores such as Costco, Sam’s Club, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.

Ultimately, this experience exposed me to the types of projects and design work that are involved in a consumer electronics company. I learned what goes into designing content for a world-class brand, maintaining high quality work while meeting tight deadlines and ensuring buyoff from all parties involved.

Designing Vector Graphics

I designed vector graphics for use in VIZIO product User Manuals and Reviewer Guides. These designs involved taking rendered imagery of products and converting them to simplified line art graphics.
